NEXBASE Base Oils
NEXBASE™ base oils are top-tier Group III base oils. The main applications for our base oils are high-performance engine oils, driveline fluids and industrial lubricants. NEXBASE™ base stocks have high oxidation stability, low evaporation, excellent low temperature fluidity and extremely low sulphur content.
Our extensive NEXBASE™ formulation portfolio is created for our customers to provide the best lubrication solutions for OEMs, motorists and other end users. We ensure that these lubricants will work reliably in all conditions and can improve fuel economy with reduced emissions and extended durability.
The use of NEXBASE™ base oils in engine oils is growing
New emission legislation is a driver for using better base oils. The latest catalytic converter technologies allow for lower impurity levels, and therefore, better engine lubricants are needed. Conventional mineral oil based lubricants do not fulfil the latest specifications and NEXBASE™ base oils are replacing them in high-performance lubricants.
High-performance while reducing emissions with NEXBASE™ 4+
Our first base stock made with renewable raw materials, NEXBASE™ 4+, is a high-performance base oil and a drop-in replacement for fossil-based Group III+ and PAO (polyalphaolefin) base oils in low-viscosity, low-volatility engine oils.
Created in collaboration with Novvi, LLC and their renewable base oil technology, NEXBASE™ 4+ has been designed to meet the latest specifications, resulting in lubricants that contribute to high performance, improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and better machine durability.
Over 60% of the molecules in NEXBASE 4+ are manufactured from 100% certified renewable raw materials, sourced according to Neste's strict sustainability standards. The product has a lower lifecycle carbon footprint* compared to fossil base oil products.
*Carbon footprint of NEXBASE 4+ is based on Neste´s Life Cycle Assessment conducted in March 2021. Carbon footprint of Group III base oils are from the LCA study by Girotti et al. (Giorgia Girotti, Andrea Raimondi, Gian Andrea Blengini, and Debora Fino, “The Contribution of Lube Additives to the Life Cycle Impacts of Fully Formulated Petroleum-Based Lubricants”.
